Aleppo is only available in flake form, the drying process creates a wonderful flake that whole Aleppo pod cannot match

Aleppo is traditionally preserved by using a a vegetable oil and salt solution on the outside of the chilli before drying, this helps to keep the natural oils within the chilli, this a very light covering with the salt content including the chilli being just 91mg per 100g
