Cubeb Black Pepper, also known as tailed pepper, is grown in parts of southern India, particularly along the humid spice-growing regions of Karnataka and Kerala.
These distinctive pepper berries are recognised by their small stalks and deliver a warm, peppery flavour with earthy, slightly resinous notes and a gentle hint of eucalyptus.
Traditionally used in spice blends, pickling and slow-cooked dishes, cubeb pepper adds depth without overwhelming heat.
It pairs particularly well with rich meats, game, lentils and aromatic rice dishes, and can also be used in spice rubs, sauces and traditional North African and Middle Eastern cooking.

I'd never tried this before, but it was well worth it. Definitely different to "ordinary" black pepper - much more aromatic with a hint of clove or allspice. Certainly one I'll keep in stock.
