Quick Reference
What is it?: Sea salt smoked over alder wood for a clean northern-European smoke flavour.
Flavour: Balanced, savoury smoke with a lighter wood character than heavy oak.
Common uses: Finish fish, meat and vegetables or use in rubs where a natural smoke note is wanted.
Pairs well with: Salmon, pork, potatoes, mushrooms, eggs and root vegetables.
Compare with: Alder is especially natural with fish and is generally gentler than intense oak or heavy Danish smoked salts.
Substitute: A lightly smoked beech salt is the closest alternative.
Storage: Keep sealed in a cool, dry place away from steam and moisture. For smoked or delicate finishing salts, close the pack promptly to protect their aroma and crystal texture.
Good to know: Alder wood is traditionally used for smoking fish, which is why this salt works particularly well with salmon and other oily fish.

Almost the best smoked version of Salt
This Aldersmoke Salt is rocking my dishes and is very potent. A little goes a long way in my soups, seasonings, rubs and yes, even curries! I have tried them both - the Viking and the Alder - this is the most smokey.
