Description

Chilli Name: AJI RAINFOREST
Chilli Species: Capsicum Baccatum
Chilli Origin: South America (Amazon rainforest region)
Chilli Heat: Medium

Aji Rainforest is a Capsicum baccatum chilli named for its association with the South American rainforest region. It is grown primarily for flavour and productivity rather than extreme heat, fitting well within the traditional aji style of chillies.

Pods are elongated to slightly curved, medium in size, and typically smooth-skinned. Fruits ripen from green to yellow or yellow-orange when fully mature. Pod walls are moderately thick, making them suitable for fresh use, cooking, and sauces.

Flavour is fruity and fresh with light citrus notes characteristic of baccatum chillies. Heat is regarded as Medium, providing a warming chilli presence that enhances dishes without overpowering them. No formally published Scoville Heat Unit figure is available for this variety.

Plants are tall and branching, often reaching over 1 m in height under good conditions. They are productive once established and benefit from a long growing season, performing best in greenhouses or warm, sheltered outdoor positions.

Aji Rainforest is recognised as a regionally named aji chilli rather than a formally documented modern hybrid. It reflects the South American tradition of growing chillies for flavour, aroma, and versatility in everyday cooking.

Germination temperature 28–30 °C. See our Water and Feed Guides for advise.

Chilli Seeds Qty is 5 per pack unless stated.
