Big Bang Chocolate is a superhot Capsicum chinense variety grown for extreme heat rather than ornamental use. It is cultivated by experienced growers seeking high pungency and strong chinense character.
Pods are medium to large, heavily wrinkled, and irregular, often developing pointed or elongated ends. Fruits ripen from green to deep chocolate brown when fully mature. Pod walls are relatively thin, making them suitable for sauce production and drying.
Flavour is rich and fruity with deep chinense notes, quickly followed by intense and lasting heat. Heat is classed as Superhot, placing it at the upper end of the heat scale. No formally published Scoville Heat Unit figure is available, but it is marketed at the highest heat category.
Plants are bushy and moderately tall, requiring consistent warmth, strong light, and a long growing season to reach full heat potential. They perform best in greenhouse or very warm outdoor conditions.
