Habanero Neon is a Capsicum chinense variety grown for its vivid pod colour and strong habanero heat. It is cultivated primarily for culinary use where pronounced pungency and bright flavour are desired.
Pods are lantern-shaped to slightly rounded with a lightly textured surface. Fruits ripen from green to a vivid neon-like orange when fully mature. Pod walls are moderately thin, making them suitable for fresh use, sauces, and blending.
Flavour is fruity and aromatic with classic chinense character, followed by an intense, lingering heat. Heat is classed as Very Hot, consistent with habanero-type chillies. No formally published Scoville Heat Unit figure is available for this variety.
Plants are bushy and moderately compact, typically reaching 70–100 cm in height. They require warm temperatures and a long growing season to reach full colour and heat potential, performing best in greenhouses or sheltered outdoor positions.
