Jigsaw Chocolate is a dark-coloured Capsicum chinense superhot variety selected for extreme heat and aggressive pod formation. It is grown primarily by experienced growers seeking high heat levels rather than culinary subtlety.
Pods are irregular, heavily wrinkled, and often contorted, with a rough surface texture. Fruits ripen from green to deep chocolate brown when fully mature. Pod walls are relatively thin, contributing to rapid heat release.
Flavour is earthy with muted chinense fruit notes, quickly overtaken by intense and sustained heat. Heat is classed as Superhot, commonly reported well above 1,000,000 SHU. The burn is fast, sharp, and long-lasting.
Plants are bushy and moderately tall, usually reaching 90–120 cm under good conditions. They require consistent warmth, strong light, and a long growing season to develop full heat potential and pod shape.
The background and breeder of Jigsaw Chocolate are not formally documented. It is recognised as a colour variant within the Jigsaw type, selected for dark pod colour and extreme pungency rather than for regional or cultural heritage.
