Description

Chilli Name: NAGA MORICH RED
Chilli Species: Capsicum Chinense
Chilli Origin: Bangladesh – India (Assam region)
Chilli Heat: Superhot

Naga Morich Red is a traditional Capsicum chinense chilli originating from the Bengal–Assam region, spanning parts of Bangladesh and north-east India. It is one of the classic extreme-heat chillies of the region and is grown primarily for its intense pungency and strong flavour.

Pods are medium-sized, irregular, and heavily wrinkled, often tapering towards a blunt or slightly pointed end. Fruits ripen from green to deep red when fully mature. Pod walls are relatively thin, making them suitable for sauces, drying, and powder production.

Flavour is fruity and aromatic with earthy undertones, followed rapidly by an aggressive and long-lasting heat. Heat levels are widely reported in the 800,000–1,000,000+ SHU range, placing Naga Morich Red firmly in the Superhot category.

Plants are bushy and moderately tall, typically reaching 90–120 cm under good conditions. They require sustained warmth, strong light, and a long growing season to reach full heat potential and consistent yields, performing best in greenhouses or very warm outdoor locations.

Naga Morich holds strong cultural importance in the cuisines of Bangladesh and north-east India, where it is traditionally used fresh, dried, or fermented. It represents a regional landrace rather than a modern bred hybrid.

Germination temperature 28–30 °C. See our Water and Feed Guides for advise.

Chilli Seeds Qty is 5 per pack unless stated.
