Description

Chilli Name: STAVROS
Chilli Species: Capsicum Annuum
Chilli Origin: Greece
Chilli Heat: Mild

Stavros is a traditional chilli associated with Greece, taking its name from the town of Stavros. It is grown primarily for everyday culinary use, where flavour and versatility are preferred over strong heat.

Pods are medium-sized and elongated, tapering gently towards the tip. Fruits ripen from green to red when fully mature and have relatively thin walls, making them suitable for fresh use, frying, and drying.

Flavour is clean and slightly sweet with a gentle warmth. Heat is classed as Mild, providing light pungency that enhances dishes without dominating them. No formally published Scoville Heat Unit figure is available for this variety.

Plants are compact to medium in size and well suited to warm, sheltered growing conditions. They perform reliably in open ground or greenhouse cultivation and produce consistent yields over the season.

Stavros is best regarded as a regionally named Greek chilli rather than a modern bred cultivar. Its value lies in its suitability for traditional cooking and its balanced, approachable heat.

Germination temperature 28–30 °C. See our Water and Feed Guides for advise.

Chilli Seeds Qty is 5 per pack unless stated.
