Whats the difference between Cumin Seeds and Cumin Seeds Black?

Somewhere in the past this wonderful plant seed was traded through the civilisations at the time - ancient Greece, Babylon and Egypt to name a few

These wonderful spice merchants of olde spread this spice and with our most common use in European food being the cumin from India, the cumin seed cultivated for thousands of years in the Middle East has produced what is known as the cumin seed black

As with all Middle Eastern cuisine the flavours concentrate on light sunshine flavours, cumin seeds black produce a lighter flavour of cumin ideally marrying the other ingredients

This is not to be confused with Black Onion Seeds, Caraway Seeds - these are relatives but not the same flavour

    Cumin Seeds Black

What’s to say! Best cumin seeds out there. Cumin has a very strong flavour but the black seeds are much milder.

    Cumin Seeds Black

Posted by J Darwin on 27th Jun 2022

If black cumin is meant to be different to the usual cumin seeds, then these can't be black cumin. They look and smell the same as usual cumin. But if they are one of the same, then the seeds look clean and smell fresh. Reply from Steve : True Black Cumin is the cousin of Cumin Seeds, they are darker in colour and come with a bitter flavour - evolved in the Middle East. What some people call Black Cumin is not Black Cumin but Nigella Seeds, I cannot help the way some bloggers continuously state the wrong thing when they have never dealt with spices, hope this helps to explain the difference, Steve

They had what I wanted (more than one sort of seed), it arrived almost overnight and wasn't expensive either.
