Quick Reference

What is it?: A salt-free Mediterranean herb blend of rosemary, thyme, basil, marjoram and tarragon.

Flavour: Fragrant and herbal, with piney rosemary and thyme balanced by sweet basil, soft marjoram and the light anise note of tarragon.

Common Uses: Tomato sauces, pizza, roast vegetables, chicken, lamb, beans and Mediterranean soups.

Pairs Well With: Tomato, garlic, olive oil, courgette, aubergine, chicken, lamb and soft cheeses.

How to Use: Add during cooking so the dried herbs soften and release their oils; crush lightly between the fingers for quicker flavour.

Compare With: Compared with Herbes Italienne, this blend is broader and more French in style because it includes thyme and tarragon.

Substitute: Use Herbes Italienne for a simpler oregano-basil direction, or Bouquet Garni for slow-cooked stocks and stews.

Storage: Store sealed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and steam.

Good to Know: There is no lavender in this blend; the flavour comes from the traditional savoury herbs listed on the product page.

    Great value herbs

These herbes de Provence are great value, and in my opinion have a more balanced, delicate flavour than others I've tried.

    Wonderful aroma

The aroma just fills the house. Wonderful. Next time I'll try the organic blend, it is mixed according to the historical recipe (with lavender).
