Habanero Tenziha Yellow is a Capsicum chinense variety named after Tenziha, reflecting its association with Tanzania. It is grown for strong habanero heat combined with bright, aromatic flavour, and is used primarily for culinary applications rather than ornamental display.
Pods are lantern-shaped to slightly elongated with a lightly wrinkled surface. Fruits ripen from green to yellow when fully mature. Pod walls are moderately thin, making them suitable for fresh use, sauces, and blending.
Flavour is fruity and aromatic with classic chinense character, followed by an intense, lingering heat. Heat is classed as Very Hot, consistent with habanero-type chillies. No formally published Scoville Heat Unit figure is available for this variety.
Plants are bushy and moderately compact, typically reaching 70–100 cm in height. They require warm temperatures and a long growing season to reach full flavour and heat potential, performing best in greenhouses or sheltered outdoor positions.
Habanero Tenziha Yellow is recognised as a regionally named habanero selection rather than a formally documented modern hybrid, valued for its reliable heat and distinctive yellow fruit.
