Garlic Chips 5/8 Mesh - Quick Reference
What is it?: Large dried garlic pieces in a 5/8 mesh-style cut, designed to give pronounced texture.
Flavour: Concentrated savoury garlic flavour with gentle sweetness and a firm dried bite before hydration.
Common uses: Use in slow-cooked sauces, soups, stews, flavoured oils, toppings and dishes where visible garlic is wanted.
Pairs well with: Pairs well with chilli, herbs, tomato, meat, vegetables and bread.
How to use: Rehydrate during cooking or soak before use. They can also be fried carefully for a crisp garnish, watching closely to prevent burning.
Compare with: Garlic chips are larger than minced garlic, flakes, granules and powder, so they retain the most obvious texture.
Substitute: Garlic flakes are the closest alternative, while fresh sliced garlic gives more moisture and sharper flavour.
Good to know: The larger cut takes longer to soften, making it better suited to dishes with enough liquid and cooking time.
