Our Black Long Pepper comes from Kampot in Cambodia, one of the best pepper growing areas, originally the first pepper Europe used was the Long Pepper type not the peppercorn we use today

Long Peppers can be cooked with whole in stews and similar, can be a little difficult to grind in a pepper mill, always best to crush up the amount you would like to us and either use in a pepper mill or mortar

Quick Reference
What is it?: Whole black long pepper spikes from Kampot, Cambodia, from the Piper longum family.
Flavour: Warm, earthy and peppery with sweet spice notes and a lingering heat.
Common uses: Grate or crush into curries, stews, pickles, meat rubs and spice blends.
Pairs well with: Lamb, beef, lentils, cinnamon and ginger.
Compare with: More complex and sweeter than ordinary black peppercorns, with a long catkin-like shape.
Substitute: Black pepper with a small pinch of allspice or nutmeg.
Storage: Keep sealed in a cool, dry place away from steam, moisture and direct light. Whole peppercorns retain their aroma longer than ground pepper; close the pack promptly after use.
Good to know: Long pepper was widely traded before round black pepper became dominant in European cooking.
