Organic Nigella Seeds are one of these confusing spices as its known by many names with some crossovers that are not right

As spice merchants travelled and peddled their wares back in the day they offered some new flavours that were similar to others, nigella is known as black cumin, this is not correct, black cumin is middle eastern slightly bitter cumin seen which can be found here

In Hindi Organic Nigella Seeds are Kalonji

Organic Nigella Sativa are the best nigella seeds grown

Organic Nigella Seeds have been used for thousands of years with reports of a jar found in the Tomb of Tutankhamen

Ancient medics would prescribe Nigella Seeds for headaches, toothaches and more

I am not sure what they cure in todays world but when eating good pure spice our ancestors used will ensure good proper food!

The nutty slightly cumin flavour adds a great dimension to any soup, curry, stew, can be mixed into rice and breads

Grown in Egypt

Nigella Sativa Seeds Organic 50g - Quick Reference

What is it?: Organic nigella sativa seeds are small black aromatic seeds known as kalonji, often used on breads and in South Asian spice mixtures.

Flavour: Peppery, nutty and savoury with oregano-like, toasted onion and faintly bitter notes.

Common uses: Naan, flatbreads, panch phoron, pickles, lentils, vegetable dishes and savoury pastries.

Pairs well with: Fennel, cumin, fenugreek, mustard seed, coriander, sesame, potato and aubergine.

How to use: Use whole, or toast briefly to release more aroma without burning the seeds.

Compare with: Distinct from both true cumin and onion seed despite the common names sometimes used for it.

Substitute: No single spice is equivalent; sesame adds texture and cumin adds warmth, but neither matches nigella's herbaceous bite.

Storage: Keep sealed away from heat and direct light.

Good to know: Nigella provides both flavour and visual contrast, which is why it is often scattered across pale breads before baking.
