Description

combined.website-mini.jpg

Negin saffron consists of long, thick crimson-red threads with a deep colour and an intense, floral aroma.

Negin means "diamond on a ring" signifying its preciousness and high quality

Carefully dried to preserve its natural oils, it releases a rich golden hue and a complex flavour that is both honeyed and slightly earthy when infused.

The threads are uniform and unbroken, allowing the saffron to bloom slowly when steeped in warm water or milk.

A small pinch is enough to perfume a dish, adding depth without bitterness.

Traditionally used in Persian rice dishes, stews, and desserts, negin saffron is also prized in Spanish, Middle Eastern, and Indian cooking.

It is ideal for saffron rice, paella, seafood, custards, and delicate sauces where colour, aroma, and balance are essential.

Saffron - Negin 1g - Quick Reference

What is it?: Negin-grade saffron made from long, thick crimson stigmas selected for strong colour and aroma.

Flavour: Floral, honeyed and earthy with a gentle hay-like bitterness and deep aromatic finish.

Common uses: Use in Persian rice, paella, risotto, seafood, sauces, custards, cakes and milk-based desserts.

Pairs well with: Pairs well with rice, seafood, cardamom, rose, citrus, almond, milk and honey.

How to use: Crush lightly and steep in warm water or milk for 10-20 minutes before adding, allowing the colour and aroma to bloom fully.

Compare with: Negin saffron is valued for long, largely unbroken red threads with little or no yellow style compared with lower grades.

Substitute: Turmeric can replace colour but not flavour; safflower gives appearance only and is not a true saffron substitute.

Good to know: A small pinch is sufficient because genuine saffron develops gradually during infusion rather than delivering instant colour alone.

Not as strong as some I’ve had.

Excellent quality with a deep, fruity fragrance. Better than any saffron I've previously purchased.
