Description
Chilli Name: 7 POT LONG LG
Chilli Species: Capsicum Chinense
Chilli Origin: Trinidad
Chilli Heat: Superhot
7 Pot Long LG is a Capsicum chinense variety within the 7 Pot group, grown for extreme heat and elongated pod shape. It is cultivated primarily by experienced growers seeking high heat levels rather than everyday culinary use.
Pods are long, narrow, and heavily wrinkled, often tapering to a pointed end. Fruits ripen from green to red when fully mature. Pod walls are relatively thin, contributing to rapid heat release and suitability for sauces and powders.
Flavour is fruity with earthy undertones, quickly followed by intense and sustained heat. Heat is classed as Superhot, commonly exceeding 1,000,000 SHU, delivering a powerful and long-lasting burn typical of the 7 Pot group.
Plants are bushy and moderately tall, usually reaching 90–120 cm under good conditions. They require warm temperatures, strong light, and a long growing season to develop full pod size and heat potential.
The 7 Pot group originates from Trinidad, where these chillies are traditionally known for their extreme heat, reputedly hot enough to flavour multiple pots of food from a single pod. The “Long LG” form represents a selected phenotype emphasising pod length rather than a distinct historical landrace.
Germination temperature 28–30 °C. See our Water and Feed Guides for advise.
