Description

Chilli Name: TEPIN CAPPUCCINO
Chilli Species: Capsicum Annuum
Chilli Origin: Mexico
Chilli Heat: Hot

Tepin Cappuccino is a colour-selected form of the traditional Tepin chilli, valued for its small pods and intense heat. It belongs to the group of semi-wild annuum chillies that are closely linked to long-standing regional cultivation in Mexico.

Pods are very small, round to slightly oval, typically no more than 1–2 cm across. Fruits ripen from green to a distinctive cappuccino-brown shade when fully mature. The walls are thin, making the pods ideal for drying and crushing.

Flavour is earthy and concentrated with a rapid, sharp heat. Heat is classed as Hot, delivering a strong, immediate burn that is disproportionate to the pod size. No formally published Scoville Heat Unit figure is available for this variety.

Plants are compact and bushy, often reaching 60–80 cm in height. They are productive once established and well suited to container growing, greenhouse cultivation, or sheltered outdoor positions in warm conditions.

Tepin chillies have deep cultural significance in Mexico, where they are traditionally harvested from wild or semi-wild plants and used dried as a seasoning. The cappuccino-coloured form represents a selected colour variant rather than a separate historical landrace.

Germination temperature 28–30 °C. See our Water and Feed Guides for advise.

Chilli Seeds Qty is 5 per pack unless stated.
