Capsicum Sp. Pimenta Da Neyde - 2011
It is reported that this is a Chinense - Annum Cross. Neyde is the name of the lady who discovered it in Brazil, the pods are annum in shape but Chinense in Flavour and apparently stay purple throughout - will find out this year
16.05.11. One soil and one hydro growing - truly a stunning plant to watch and looking stronger this week
23.05.11. As you can see this plant has really shot up in the hydro block, strong purple throughout its foliage and stem
30.05.11. One of the plants has been repotted - and I need to get another NFT tank to get the other plant going, but both are growing well, there are some issues with the leaves on the soil plant - wonder if it is either missing a nutrient or too much of one - will try some trial and error and see if I can correct
Lovely colours from this plant though, light green to a dark green with huge amounts of purple veins and stem
06.06.11. Along with the Burkina, there is not enough room for another few Hydro Tanks, so decided to put the Hydro in soil, and grow together - really is a pretty looking plant!
13.06.11. Again this week great growth going on, and has a great colour range
20.06.11. The stem on this plant is really thick - thicker than most plants of a similar size - the leaves go through three colour changes, light to dark green then follows a good splattering of a dark purple, starting to bud
27.06.11. Still a very stunning looking plant, slow to form buds and open flowers but getting there
04.07.11. Removed one Pimenta Soil from the room to make space, and the buds are starting to pop up all over the plant which is nice!
11.07.11. Really annoying - lost the first flowers this morning - pollinated them yesterday and then dropped off today - gave all my plants in soil a good feed today just in case - hopefully the others left and coming through will grow nicely, still a very stunning plant to grow - pictures dont do them justice
18.07.11. Really is a stunning looking plant - the shape it grows to and the colour is up there with the best, as usual though, lost the first few flowers which drives me nuts, but there are more coming through
25.07.11. Still the best looking chili plant I have ever grown - the form of the stem and branches is outstanding - for that lone I recommend that every one should grow the plant - still losing its first flowers, more coming through though so hopefully it is being just a typical chilli plant and not becoming another nemesis
01.08.11. Plant is now producing a lot more flowers, still loosing some, but as you can see the plant has a couple of pods showing and as stated the pods ar dark purple in colour, but not all the way through - slight greenness at the base of the pod - wonder if it will turn all purple or has this as a characteristic
05.09.11. The way I have had to grow this plant doesn’t do it justice - AT ALL!! By binding the plant up to save space it doesnt look as good as it should - will have to wait for the main harvest to get that picture
The pods that first appeared I think are maturing - I say that as the colour of one has changed to a lighter purple compared to when it first started - has it finished changing colour - I don’t know - they do look very unique though with that great shade of purple
19.09.11. This is still a stunning plant that will not be able to be seen on the photos until I untie the strings and allow it to show its full glory - until the pods are fully harvested all I can do is try to show it as good as I can, but the plant is producing good size pods all over the place - will look great once they turn a lighter shade of purple
28.10.11. Took the first few pods that matured to dry for the seeds, the rest of the plant will continue to mature pods - still growing so I am pruning back now as I only want the pods that are on the plant - don’t have the room for more growth
16.12.11. Very Long Growing plant showing its signs of still being a wild strain
Lovely looking plant something I haven’t show well due to space concerns but I will grow in the garden next year and leave it to grow as it wants!
Still I was advised to grow it and they weren’t wrong, it is a great looking plant and the pods are unique with only changing a shade of the same colour
