Turkish Oregano Organic - Quick Reference
What is it?: Organic Turkish oregano with a robust eastern Mediterranean character.
Flavour: Warm, savoury and peppery with earthy, slightly bitter and resinous notes.
Common uses: Kebabs, lamb, tomato sauces, flatbreads, roasted vegetables, salads and marinades.
Pairs well with: Sumac, cumin, mint, garlic, lemon, tomato and yoghurt.
How to use: Crush before adding or bloom briefly in warm oil for dressings and sauces.
Compare with: More assertive than mild common oregano and less citrus-led than Mexican oregano.
Substitute: Greek oregano is the closest substitute.
Storage: Keep tightly sealed away from heat and sunlight.
Good to know: Its assertive flavour stands up particularly well to grilled meats, olive oil and acidic ingredients such as lemon or sumac.
