Description

7 Pot Jonah Chilli Powder is a fierce Trinidadian chilli with intense heat and a fruity, slightly sweet flavour beneath the burn.

The “7 Pot” name comes from Trinidad and Tobago, where these chillies are said to be so hot that one chilli can heat seven pots of stew or curry.

It’s a traditional way of describing the extreme strength of the chilli rather than a scientific measurement, but varieties like 7 Pot Jonah, 7 Pot Douglah and 7 Pot Primo are genuinely among the hottest chillies in the world. Despite the heat, they’re prized for their rich fruity flavour, which is why they’re popular in Caribbean pepper sauces and chilli blends.

Use sparingly in hot sauces, marinades, curries, stews and chilli recipes where serious fire is wanted.

This super-hot chilli powder is best added in tiny amounts and built up slowly. A little brings deep Caribbean-style heat to sauces, rubs and slow-cooked dishes.
