Coffee Information

This washed Caturra lot comes from Finca Don Carlos, nestled in the Bolinda colony of Caranavi, Bolivia. Spanning 18.7 hectares and situated between 1,550–1,650 metres above sea level, the farm benefits from cool mountain air, rich volcanic soil, and ideal microclimates that contribute to its vibrant acidity and clean, structured cup profile. It forms part of Agricafe’s Buena Vista project, a pioneering initiative aimed at revitalising Bolivian coffee production through innovation, sustainability, and long-term investment in quality.

Finca Don Carlos is named in honour of Carlos Mariaca, a foundational figure in Bolivian specialty coffee and one of Agricafe’s longest-serving team members. Carlos played a key role in building the region’s first wet mill and has been instrumental in shaping the quality-focused practices that define Bolivian coffee today. As a tribute to his legacy, Agricafe not only named the farm after him but also made him a partner in its success.

Under the agronomic leadership of Pedro Pablo Rodríguez, who studied coffee farming in Honduras, the farm employs meticulous washed processing to highlight the clarity and sweetness of the Caturra varietal. In addition to coffee, Finca Don Carlos is committed to environmental stewardship, with active reforestation efforts planting native species such as Tajibos, Mara, and Ceibo to preserve biodiversity and support long-term soil health.

Think soft and sweet sultanas mixed in with apricot, before it all gets a sprinkle of golden sugar in this easy drinking coffee.
